The responsibility of the terrorist bombing attack at Manchester Arena Concert here on Monday is claimed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and said that the bombing was carried out with an explosive device planted at the concert.
The attack killed 22 people and injured dozens at the British concert by US singer Ariana Grande where one of the soldiers of the Caliphate was able to place an explosive device within a gathering of the Crusaders in the city of Manchester. The attack is the third major terror attack in Britain since 2005 and is the worst one of all the London bombings. The attack is the deadliest in Britain since four Muslims killed 52 people in suicide bombings on London’s transport system in 2005.
Western involvement in the conflicts in Syria and Iraq made the Islamist State militant group call for attacks as retaliation. The increasing mass immigration and pockets of domestic Islamist radicalism in the European Union has become a growing concern. Attacks in cities including Paris, Nice, Brussels, St Petersburg, Berlin and London are confirming the security challenges.
However British police on Tuesday has said they have arrested a 23-year old man in connection with the suicide bombing.
British Prime Minister Theresa May has called the terror strike a “sickening act” which targeted children and young people. “All acts of terrorism are cowardly… but this attack stands out for its appalling sickening cowardice, deliberately targeting innocent, defenseless children and young people who should have been enjoying one of the most memorable nights of their lives,” May said outside her Downing Street office in London.
US President Donald Trump described the attack as the work of “evil losers“. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said it “will only strengthen our resolve to…work with our British friends against those who plan and carry out such inhumane deeds.”
Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi expressed his shock through twitter, “Pained by the attack in Manchester. We strongly condemn it. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased & prayers with the injured.”
